Wheelchair Lifts for Auditoriums
The managers of an Oklahoma auditorium wanted very much to provide handicap access over a set of stairs to their stage but could not seem to find a wheelchair lift that would meet their requirements. They wanted a wheelchair lift that was not too heavy that they could bring out when needed, and take back to storage when they were done. They did not want to permanently install the lift into their stage.
Project Constraints:
• The only place they could access the stage from was at the stairs leading up to the stage.
• The lift would have to span over their stairs (a 54” reach)
• There was limited space available to access the stairs to the stage from the auditorium aisle
• The auditorium had numerous outdoor activities in the summertime and wanted to be able to use the same lift in both locations.
The Solution
Adaptive provided a Mobilift CX with a right hand side load option package and a 60” bridge ramp.
The Outcome
The auditorium was able to provide wheelchair access to all of their programs, whether they involved lifting over stairs that were indoor or outdoor. The right hand load option offered easy access for wheelchair users as they came down the aisle. The 60” bridge ramp allowed them to roll right over the existing stairway and onto the stage. As the CX Mobilift does not require any batteries or power, it was extremely reliable and always ready.
