Wheelchair Lifts for Corporate Jets

Our customer operated a fleet of corporate jets. The Company wanted to ensure that any employee, customer or other passenger that was traveling on one of the corporate jets would be able to access the aircraft in a safe and dignified manner.

Project Constraints:
• Lift needed to reach a height of 80”
• Lift needed to access any type of aircraft in fleet, regardless of door shape and size
• Lift needed to be safe in the event of wind gusts or jet blast
• Lift needed to be able to raiser or lower with 100% reliability
• Lift needed to comply with relevant FAA and ADA requirements

The Solution
Adaptive provided a manually powered Mobilift AX Wheelchair lift, designed for aircraft. The unit was designed to be wind and jet blast stable to 90 mph in accordance with FAA recommended practice and reached the height requirements for all aircraft in the customer’s fleet. The manual power feature released them from relying on electrical or battery power, both of which were perceived to be unreliable.

The Outcome
The flight department of our corporate customer was able to satisfy the letter of the law with respect to all of their obligations under the ADA (American's With Disabilities Act), as well as the spirit of the law with respect to the dignity of their passengers. The wheelchair lift went into operation immediately out of the shipping container and has been working ever since.
